Clients & Competencies
Grant McCandless, CEO of Social Impact Consultants, has been working for and with nonprofits and government agencies since 2013, for organizations as large as Habitat for Humanity International and as small as $1 million in revenue.
Prior to launching Social Impact Consultants, he was the Director of Research for RCG Economics, a firm renowned in Nevada for its economic advisory services. Grant holds a Master of Business Administration from Emory University, a Master of Divinity from Princeton Seminary, and studied nonprofit leadership at Harvard.

Nevada Office of Workforce Innovation
Through a study funded by Nevada’s Office of Workforce Innovation, Social Impact Consultants estimated the economic and fiscal impacts of reconnecting 30,000 young adults in Nevada to education and employment by 2030. This initiative to serve the state’s disconnected youth would help grow the region’s economy by $17 billion in GDP and create 15,000 new jobs.

habitat for humanity international
At Habitat Grant McCandless was the project manager for the Balanced Scorecard (BSc) strategic initiative across all business units, where he measured progress on the strategic plan with quantitative metrics. The BSc focuses nonprofits on key SMART goals and objectives for programs, internal operations, human resources, fundraising and finance. Nonprofits that can demonstrate progress with a BSC win and repeatedly renew grant funding for programs. At Habitat, the data Grant collected through the BSc process enabled senior leadership and the board to have crucial conversations about strategic direction in a time of dwindling revenue.

Wellspring living
Following his work for Habitat, Grant implemented a similar scorecard performance measurement system for smaller nonprofits like Wellspring Living in Atlanta. Senior leaders used the data and insights collected by this system to not only meet Wellspring’s reporting obligations to funders and the board but also to increase its revenue for programs by over 40% the year after the project’s completion.

For Living Grace Homes, Grant prepared a feasibility study that quantified the opportunities, risks, and costs-benefits of a proposed $10+ million expansion of the organization’s facilities.
